Porsche 917 LH John Woolfe Racing 24h Le Mans 1969 1:18 WERK83

Detailed description and features of the model:
  • the model has steerable front wheels
    Drivers: John Woolfe, Herbert Linge

The Porsche 917LH was first entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969. Alongside the two factory cars entered, the English racing team owner John Woolfe was the first privateer to own a 917LH. Woolfe had chosen Richard Attwood as his partner in Le Mans. However, Attwood received a works contract from Porsche, which earned Herbert Linge a seat alongside Woolfe. Even though Linge was the more experienced driver, Woolfe drove the start because his entire family was present. The time advantage of not wearing a seatbelt at the Le Mans start propelled him from 21st place into the top 10 right at the start. However, on the first lap he went off the track and hit the barrier. Woolfe was ejected from the car and died at the scene of the accident.
