Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.1 Martini Racing Team 24h Le Mans 1974 1:12 CMR
Detailed description and features of the model:
- the model has a length of approx. 39cm and a width of approx. 17cm
Drivers: Gijs van Lennep, Herbert Müller
On the morning of the second day at Le Mans, Porsche was in second place behind Matra. Then, however, the fifth gear on Herbert Müller and Gijs van Lennep's car broke. Since access to the gearbox would have required removing the entire engine, they continued with four gears, hoping that the fragments in the gearbox wouldn't cause further damage. In the end, the car withstood the extreme stress and crossed the finish line in second place overall after 24 hours. This was a huge success for both the 911, which started as a prototype, and for Porsche.
