    It was a day in the summer of 1987 when Walter Röhrl made motorsport history at Pikes Peak, beating the American Bobby Unser's track record by 22 seconds. Bobby Unser comes from a family of racing drivers and is considered the "King of Pikes Peak" in the USA, having won the "Race to the Clouds" 11 times. To this day, Röhrl's record of 10 minutes, 47.850 seconds, has not been beaten by any other front-engined car.
